NaPoWriMo #5

In the woods, I saw a bird
Alone and tired
Waiting for the wind to take her home
Wings grow weak from use
Muscles ache and need time to rest
She waited and waited
And as the wind lifted her friends one by one
There never came a gust strong enough to carry her weary body
And as she sat and waited
A tune so lovely came to her
I’ve sat here captivated by her song so long
That I’ve forgotten what brought me here to start with
